ABOUT ‘THE LONG WAY HOME’

This Americana/Rock/Country band formed in 2023 brings together Platinum Recording Artist and Songwriter Michael Shynes (Over 300+ Million YouTube Views and over 100+ Million Streams) and Renowned Musician/Performer Tommy Vee (Son of Legendary Singer Bobby Vee, has backed the likes of Paul McCartney, Brian Setzer, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Chuck Berry to name a few).

It was born out of a desire to create ‘real authentic guitar driven music’ at a time when digital and AI are said to control the creative future. This band begs to differ, and seeks to prove that you are truly missing something when removing the human element from performed music.

Recording their records in a one of a kind space and on analog gear at Tommy’s famed Rockhouse Studio in Saint Joseph, MN, the band’s core also features Tommy’s son Bennett Vee (who has also backed Setzer as well as Quinn Sullivan), one of the bright young stars in the next wave of performers to come out of the Midwest. Bennett’s pocket on the drums is second to none, and he seems to have inherited much by way of prodigious sensibilities that will no doubt continue to elevate the Vee name in Rock and Country circles.

Producing their records is ‘Wonder Kid’ Isaac Levy who has his own musical bloodlines from Father Noah Levy and Uncle Adam Levy, both considered to be royalty in the Twin Cities music scene and beyond. At only 20 years old, Isaac is working hand in hand with iconic Producer Ryan Lewis and seems to possess a skillset that wows both young musicians and the most seasoned of performers alike. His proficiency on guitar, bass, and drums ability to produce commercial sounds while emphasizing craft make his talents both diverse and rare in scope.

Joining this core for studio and live performances are some of the finest musicians from the Twin Cities. And their ‘typical’ lineup features a wall of two electric guitars and lapsteel, with the warmth of Hammond/B3 and upright tones, rooted in the rhythmic underbelly of bass and drums, and finishes with acoustic guitar and soulful vocal tones. Catch this musical act while you can, as they are certain to be going places.
